General Information

There is no specific fee associated with middle school sports.  Sports programs at MZMS must fundraise in order to purchase equipment, uniforms, and materials needed.  Students/Parents may have to pay a portion of costs or participate in fundraising efforts.

Mt. Zion Middle School Athletics is a part of the West Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference.  Admission to all events is set by the league at $5.00 per person.  GHSA passes as well as member school system passes are accepted. (School system passes are not accepted at fundraising tournaments or events).

MZMS Athletics' mission is to prepare student-athletes to be able to participate successfully in high school athletic programs thus we support the high school programs by teaching our athletes the same basic plays and terminology used at the high school.  All students in grades 6-8 are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities.  Playing time is not guaranteed at the the middle school level but the experience of learning and being on a team is invaluable for students.

All students must have a physical before trying out or participating in middle school athletics.  Physicals are good for one calendar year. (See link to Sports Physical Forms)

Students must be in good academic standing and must pass 5 out of 7 classes to be eligible to participate.

Questions regarding athletics may be directed to individual coaches or to our middle school athletic director, Tyler Banister at  tyler.banister@carrollcountyschools.com.
